Mass Media and the Vietnam War Many people at the beginning and before the Vietnam War were in confusion on whether going to war was such a good thing; this mainly consisted of the American public. By the time it had reached the peak of the war much of the American public had swung towards being for the war. This was mainly due the mass media at the time, one integral part of the mass media that often swayed public opinion was television, it proved to be such an effective method of communication, that it often shocked and consequently altered public opinion. Source G was an article in â€Å"Newsweek† a US magazine that was published in 1967. This Source gives us statistics telling us that 64% of viewers sai d that television had made them feel like backing up the boys in Vietnam, while 26% had felt opposed to the War. This tells us that Television had played a major role in swaying people into being in favour of the war. There is a considerable percentage in favour of the war here compared to the 26% which means that the television probably used lots of propaganda against the Vietnamese. It shows that television did have an absolute enormous impact on the war, because it meant that the American public would become strongly in favour of it and so with the backing of his people, the American President would be in no hurry to terminate this war. If an individual’s personality has characteristics of a certain trait, such as creativity or idealism, it would be a good idea to get into a career that emphasizes this trait and maximizes that potential. A total of 40,413 applications were submitted to UPenn’s admissions office, and only 9.2% of applicants, or 3,699 students were accepted. The increase in applications explains the 0.2% decline in acceptance rate, especially when the university accepted 41 more students. University of Pennsylvania is expecting 2,445 students for the Class of 2021. About 55% of those seats are already filled by the 1,354 students who were admitted Early Decision, a program that is binding for accepted students. The university also reported an increase in early applicants and accepted 22% of applicants. Regular decision is much more competitive with a larger applicant pool and an acceptance rate of 6.8%. Out of the 34,266 regular applicants, 2,345 were accepted. Additionally, 13% of UPenn’s newly admitted class are legacy students, while another 14% are the first in their family to attend college. UPenn partners with many non-profit organizations, like QuestBridge and SteppingStone Scholars, and offered admissions to 225 students in one or more of these organizations.
